I was having my happy happy time in Twitter when suddenly, Tsunku tweets this:
So I translated with my still rough Japanese… WOW WHAT TSUNKU. AUDITIONS. FOR S/MILEAGE. WHAT. WHAAAAAAT.
I looked for help. Nouciel told me I was right. So I spammed everywhere with these news because nobody else was talking about it o_o SUCH A SHOCK.
I remember Tsunku said the lineup would or would not change, but I didn’t think they’d change the lineup after debuting.
The girls’ reaction to the news:

Yuuka looks so damn sad and confused it breaks my heart. I was kinda happy about these news, until I saw her. Oh damn boy, poor girl.
Sakitty seems to be struggling, like she wants to cry. WADA looks OK o_O (probably she knew, since she’s the leader? dunno), Kanyon seems to be hiding her sadness behind her idol persona, even though she did say “we’re fine as 4″. Aw.
S/mileage have been together for 7 years counting their time as Eggs, it must be hard for them. They’ve released 5 singles, 4 indies, 1 full album. They have great chemistry, the new girl/s will sure have a hard time adapting into the group. This is different to Momusu auditions… Momusu is used to change, but S/mileage to all fans was already a steady group. But I can’t help but to get reminded about Momusu’s 1st gen with all this. I bet they felt something similar when 2nd gen was announced… “why new members? Aren’t we enough? We’ve worked so much to debut, they’ve done nothing!”, etc. Curiously enough, girls can audition for both Momusu 10th gen and S/mileage at the same time, but if they get chosen to both, they must choose a group. Oh.
I don’t know how I feel about this right now, at first I was like OH OK but after seeing Yuuka so sad, I dunno anymore 
Just when I warmed up to them (it took me a while! lol). Ayways, I will support the new girl/s, and I hope S/mileage fans will support them too. Kanna never got to be 100% accepted in C-ute by most fans, and that was extremely sad. I don’t want to see the same with S/mileage hope everything goes well to them!

I was completely baffled by this decision… This is the first time they’ve hold auditions for a group other that Momusu. And seeing 3/4 of the members so confused and sad, I wish he didn’t get this idea. It could work out, though. You never know.
I still think 10th gen was announced WAY too fast. I fear Eripon and Zukkini will disappear into the background when he adds the new girls.

This really freaked me out when I read it earlier today at Hello!SayuNii. Watching this video makes it even weirder. I’ve loved this group since the first indie single and I don’t really see any reason for a new member. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Who knows, maybe I’ll be really happy with the way things turn out after the audition but for today the news is still one hell of a shock.

It took me until Yumemiru15 to really like them… and now they will add new members, lol.
It’s a bit sad, dunno, I think they were cool with those 4 members. It’s just too weird to see auditions for a group that’s not Momusu o_O
I hope they won’t do anything like that to C-ute or Berryz… though that’s different, they’ve been together without adding members (except Kanna) for yeaaaaars, so I doubt it’ll happen to them.

Yeah, I don’t see this happening to Berryz. I guess if C-ute were to lose any more members, Tsunku might feel the need to fill the gap though. I’ve always suspected that someone could be added to Buono! but I don’t really want that group to change. However, if you look at how their sales have declined fairly steadily since they started, I still think they could be targeted for some type of restructuring – adding or changing members. I thought their last single was fantastic but I think it’s got the lowest total sales of any single they’ve released (not even 15K).

Oh hell yeah, I agree with you on that. I was shocked by the announcement but I think I can deal with a new member. I would truly hate to see any of the existing members go though.

Any suspicion about which member could be targeted for demotion? And would that be being sent back to the H!P Eggs? As near as I can tell, there’s not any one member who’s weaker than the others in terms of vocals, dancing, etc. who would need to be sent back for more training. I think that would’ve been apparent a lot sooner than this anyway.
Of course, I suppose it’s always possible for one of them to screw up and get caught doing something stupid like Aibon did – dating, smoking, and whatnot.

I think DAWA is the weakest performer, but she’s the leader so D: I don’t think she’s targeted.
Kanyon and Yuuka are pretty popular so I doubt they’re targeted… and Sakitty is really good at singing, so it’d be such a waste if they’d remove her.
Agh I can’t see S/mileage without one of its members, lol.

Good point, Arche. I guess it would be S/mileage’s own manager (whoever that is). Tsunku’s really just their producer, I think, and like you said the public face of H!P. I suppose people blame him and/or give him credit for things that he doesn’t truly have any control of.

Well, he created NGP because he wanted to have more power. I do think he’s the one responsible of many things in H!P, but I don’t think he’s the one who decides when to do auditions or which girl should graduate. I think he’s just the friendly face who tell everyone the news.
I think it must be painful for him to see a member graduating too.

i’m fine with the audition and all, but the thing i’m most worried about now is how the new member(s) will integrate into the group and whether she will be accepted by both s/mileage and the fans. >_<

I think it’s important that they get accepted by S/mileage… Kanna did get accepted by C-ute, but they were young and I think their reaction to the news was more like “a new member!! I want to see her already! a new friend yay!”, but S/mileage are teenagers and they want to remain as 4

I keep forgetting that these girls are a few years older than the members of C-ute and Berryz were when those groups were formed. They still look so damn young that I don’t always remember they’re in their mid-teens.

I kind of agree with You. I’m welcome to the fact that new members are coming and it’s not a real problem for me, but I keep wondering if they’re going to be okay getting along with the other four and if they won’t be cold to her/them…
